Return Windows, Replacement-Only Items, and What Voids Them
The return policy is category-specific and stated on the listing. It is also the part nobody reads until it matters.
Return terms in India vary by category, by seller, and sometimes by individual product. The window on the page is the one that applies to that item — not a site-wide rule you can assume.
Return, replacement, and neither
Returnable means money back within the stated window.
Replacement only means a faulty unit is exchanged for the same product, with no refund. Common in electronics and increasingly the default there.
Non-returnable covers most personal-care and hygiene items, some innerwear, and certain software or media, unless the item arrives damaged.
The distinction matters most when the product works but is not what you wanted. Replacement-only offers no remedy for that at all.
What commonly voids a return
Missing packaging or accessories. Keep the box and everything in it until you are certain you are keeping the product.
Removed labels. Serial number stickers and tags are how the returned unit is identified as the one that was sent.
Registration or activation. Some products become non-returnable once activated with the manufacturer.
Physical damage. A scratch acquired after delivery generally ends the conversation.
Open-box delivery
Where offered, open-box delivery lets you inspect the item in front of the delivery agent before accepting it. It resolves wrong-item and damaged-in-transit problems on the spot, which are the two slowest disputes to settle afterwards.
It takes an extra minute at the door and is worth taking on anything expensive or fragile.
The habit
Read the return line before ordering, not after the product disappoints. Then, when it arrives, open it, check it, and decide within the first day or two rather than the last.
Windows are short, and the practical window is shorter still — a replacement request on the final day leaves no room for anything to go wrong.
